[alan lacey] “Natively Maya only exports it own bin and ascii files, so I guess I’ll need some sort of plugin.”
Certainly Maya exports to .obj and .fbx, no? Either of those would work for objects, while .fbx would be the choice for animation.

[Brian Jones] “Probably the Stick Texture tag”
Yes, either that, or convert the flat mapping to UVW mapping (Object Manager>Texture>Generate UVW Coordinates).

    There’s a plugin specifically for this: https://xlentplugs.com/
    A little pricey for a one-trick pony.

I believe this one will do the same trick plus a lot more for about the same cost: https://www.tarabella.it/c4d/pathdeformer/

If you have the Sketch & Toon module it has a preset for this. Otherwise it’s not so easy.

The easiest way is to use the Paint Setup Wizard. It’s in the Tools menu (BP layout). It’ll set up your UVs and bitmaps so you can get right to work. Of course you can always go back and adjust UVs or whatever.

[moka-studio] “Get a machine with a dualCore AMD x2 processor instead, they are much faster for rendering.”

    Yep, I agree.

It’s a great book, but as I recall it does spend a fair amount of time on features you don’t have, e.g., radiosity and SLA shaders.

Also, Mesh Deformer may do the trick: https://www.tarabella.it/c4d/

There’s a plugin called “Spline Projector” (or something like that) that would make this pretty easy. https://www.tools4d.com

Target tag will work, but there’s actually a dedicated “Look at camera” tag.
