sounds like you’ve clicked the SPLIT SCREEN VIEW button on the preview window. To the left of the quality dropdown (Preview/Good/Best etc)

  • agreed, a world of pain. One of my pet hates, but been there, done that.

    🙁

last time I had to do that, IIRC, made up some quirky copy/paste combo, essentially manual, using key combos. something like
    1) copy text inside dialogue
    2) apply preset
    3) highlight text
    4) paste text

would LOVE there to be a faster way, but me not know it

understood your request, but I’d simply create them in photoshop or similar, as a PNG file with alpha channel, if you’re planning to do much movement to them. far simpler than playing with multiple tracks as children to a parent track

I just added CTRL ALT V to insert velocity envelopes (since CTRL SHIFT V is already assigned and ok for me).

    OPTIONS/CUSTOMISE KEYBOARD/GLOBAL

    under Insert.Envelope.EventVelocity

I gave it the shortcut and added it. simple.

I also added CTRL ALT T for new text event on current track. been meaning to do that for ages 🙂

if one has photos, better to use BEST

deinterlacing the video is fine, depending on your output: what do you expect to be the main means of viewing? SD or HD? PC/ web or TV? SD TV will prefer interlaced esp if lotsa action etc.

    usual questions:

    – where are you rendering to? lots of space available?
    – any nested vegs?
    – could render in smaller sections, to AVI, using a lossless codec, then compile a master project with these sections and render final
    – tried copying all media from current project into a new one?

am sure other suggestions to follow

    mine:

    shift B for ram preview
2 & 8 for moving selected clip(s) up and down tracks
    JKL of course, lol
    CTRL L for ripple on/off
CTRL SHIFT Q for new video track
CTRL Q for new audio track
    M for marker
    R for region
CTRL SHIFT D for multicam on/off
    B for audio bus
CTRL SHIFT B for video bus
SHIFT to bypass dialogue opening when applying new FX / TRANSITION

double click media pool item into trimmer (an option in prefs)

  • get irfanview from http://www.irfanview.com (free) and use the batch conversion facility to resize/convert/rename/etc – is an amazing program that have been using for about 10 years at least. So fast and small / light.

if pan/cropping DV, I usually bring them in at double resolution, nothing larger.
    eg 1440×1152 for PAL

Am not a scripter, but you could duplicate the track, then push T on appropriate clips to find particular video required…..
    kinda laborious, though.
