Achieving multi-colors in text
I have some generated media (text) which is a URL: tonyarcher.com
the “tony” is red (on one video channel) and the “archer.com” is blue on another. They sit on the timeline in such a way that they look like they’re just one word. (I couldn’t find a way to have a single item have multiple colors)
Is there a way to somehow join the two so they are one clip so I can apply the same video effect or pan or whatever to them both at the same time?

You really don’t need to worry about joining this video to add
filters to everything at the same time…you can just apply/drag your filters to the preview window and that will automatically apply your filters to everything you have on the timeline….(in another term, doing so is actually applying your effects to the ‘video bus track’).Steve Rhoden

That’s cool, I didn’t know about that.
However, I failed to mention there is a graphic element on the screen as well that I do not want to have the effect.
So the logo is up there and then I want my text to have the same effect on it to display the words.
The problem is that with some effects it applys it to the whole layer and thus destroys the transperancy which allows the second colored text to show through.

understood your request, but I’d simply create them in photoshop or similar, as a PNG file with alpha channel, if you’re planning to do much movement to them. far simpler than playing with multiple tracks as children to a parent track
