  • What are the most useful/common shortcuts?

    Hello everyone,
I was wondering which are the most common short cuts or keystrokes that you use when you edit with Sony Vegas.
I am guessing that pressing “S” to split a clip is probably one of the most common.
Pressing “A” to place a clip from the trimmer into the timeline is probably another useful shortcut. Another one that I have learnt (thanks to you guys, by the way) is pressing “V”, which shows the volume level in an audio track.

But what other short cuts do you commonly use? Is there a list or a link somewhere where I can see what other keystrokes are out there?
    Thanks so much!

    mine:

    shift B for ram preview
2 & 8 for moving selected clip(s) up and down tracks
    JKL of course, lol
    CTRL L for ripple on/off
CTRL SHIFT Q for new video track
CTRL Q for new audio track
    M for marker
    R for region
CTRL SHIFT D for multicam on/off
    B for audio bus
CTRL SHIFT B for video bus
SHIFT to bypass dialogue opening when applying new FX / TRANSITION

double click media pool item into trimmer (an option in prefs)

SHIFT v to add/insert audio level envelope to an audio track.(Highlight any clip on the track first.)

It would be great if CTRL-SHIFT v added velocity envelope to a video clip, but it does not, and I have not been able to make that happen.

I just added CTRL ALT V to insert velocity envelopes (since CTRL SHIFT V is already assigned and ok for me).

    OPTIONS/CUSTOMISE KEYBOARD/GLOBAL

    under Insert.Envelope.EventVelocity

I gave it the shortcut and added it. simple.

I also added CTRL ALT T for new text event on current track. been meaning to do that for ages 🙂

Adam, Thank you! I guess when I tried to do this before, I didn’t click on “Global” — works like a charm. And I like the New Text idea — did it too.

Well this is part of Excalibur, but I just had to bind MatchAspect ratio to Alt+M because I’m always dropping jpeg’s of various sizes into my projects and it’s convenient to quickly crop them so that I can add movement in Event Pan/Crop
