I would go with any version of 64, other than Basic. Ultimate doesn’t offer any better options than Business IMHO.

a good friend of mine worked on a guitar DVD series which has done really well, on amazon etc. Started with a triple DVD intermediate version, then did loadsa others. Search amazon for ‘musicademy guitar’ or look at http://www.musicademy.com
he was working in FCP, and it took a LOOOOOOONG time. think the graphics were done in Livetype….. Was using FCP 4 or something, back in 2006 or so. First series took at least 6 months, IIRC.
anyway, FWIW, you might be reinventing the wheel

IIRC, multicam was only native in v8 onwards.
you can still do it manually in any version, by adjusting the track motion for each track, so that you can see all cameras at once, then dropping M markers wherever you want to make a cut later.
OR you can download some tools with 15 day trial periods, that will make your life a lot easier 😉

make sure you get the right version for your v7

could try the masks in compositing mode:
– B&W image on top track, and mask composite mode
– fill video on 2nd track, made to be child
– background video on 3rd track

AC-3 will be smaller than PCM, thus is my choice.

drop them on to new track above your main video
right click and choose PROPERTIES. Find the alpha channel property and try dirty/premultiplied etc, i.e. change it from NONE
resize to fit using either PAN / CROP or Track Motion or both.

the vegas xdcam explorer doesn’t work with EX footage at all 🙁

using the browser rewraps them to mp4. That doesn’t resize them to 1440, AFAIK, but then I am an EX1 noob…..
