guitar lessons – good ideas are welcome ;)
Hi Vegas people,
I’d highly appreciate your creative ideas.
With my partner we have to film guitar lessons. Filming is not a problem 😉The end result should look something like that:
http://www.kovacsoltvideo.hu/videos/kotta05.mpgThe problem is the time we have. On the video you’ll see the below part where the notes (or whatever it is called) are visible, which the guy currently plays. At the left side there are the chords.
So what’s the problem? We have to be ready with it until 1st of december 🙁
I have an idea how to achieve the look on the sample material:
Need a blank “paper” for the notes on a track, the complete “paper with all the notes” on a track above, with decreased opacity, and all the notes on a track all above the first 2 tracks.
Need to keyframe croppings, so that one note gets visible for a short time than it fades, but the “complete paper with notes” gets less cropped at the same time, so that that note remains visible…Really HUGE amount of keyframing, as there will be 60 parts 12 minutes long each…
Oooops!
If anyone of you have an idea, if this could be done quicker/easyer please let me know.

Are you wanting the notes just to flash on and off or are you wanting the notes to scroll with the music?

Hmmm… any way you slice it there is a LOT of keyframing in your future. Having two copies of the media on tracks above each other with the highlighted media on top and then keyframing a mask to expose the highlights you want seems like the quickest approach (which is what I believe you said you were planning). You could also have the music staff on a third track below and just have the text change but it’s the same amount of keyframing either way. This looks like a lot of tedious work. I hope you’re getting paid enough for it.

a good friend of mine worked on a guitar DVD series which has done really well, on amazon etc. Started with a triple DVD intermediate version, then did loadsa others. Search amazon for ‘musicademy guitar’ or look at http://www.musicademy.com
he was working in FCP, and it took a LOOOOOOONG time. think the graphics were done in Livetype….. Was using FCP 4 or something, back in 2006 or so. First series took at least 6 months, IIRC.
anyway, FWIW, you might be reinventing the wheel

Yes this is what I planned. I just wrote here ’cause someone could have a better idea. I don’t want to invent the wheel, if someone did it before :)))))

Well, we didn’t pick up the work yet, my partner just sent out the bid yesterday evening. But the time is short, and I try to get ready for that job.
