Ok, I got it jimmy rigged. if I make a new sequence with 8 audio tracks, and copy/paste my timeline… then A1 goes out to 1, A2 goes out to 2, and A7 goes out to 3.

try this:
unplug black burst. Tell deck to sync to input video. Only run a video cable from the Kona to the deck and NOT from the deck back to Kona.
See if that lays off. Then you can spend time later troubleshooting 🙂

It’s really great in longform. A 2 hour uncompressed HD timeline with 10 layers of graphics and 16 channels of auido = no problem. That was on an old dual G5!
It DOES get sluggish when you have lots of old cuts… like those 35 incremental rough cuts. At that point you duplicate your project file, and delete all that old stuff out and FCP is zooming along. You still have them stored in your old project file for reference.

Yep, that’ll work. I’d make a complete mixdown of your show as a QT reference, bring that back in, drop in into a 29.97 1080 timeline. It’ll repeat frames which simulates 3:2 that you’d have on a 1080i conversion. Timecodes will translate.

In a pinch you CAN import OMFs into Soundtrack. Then you can export splits out as aiff for final cut.
…so if Soundtrack can do it, I would hope it’s a feature that FCP could handle someday.

Import all your sound files into FCP, get them all highlighted, right click on your Media Start, select “non-drop”. It will switch them all in one swoop

What’s your system setup? In/out hardware?
What’s your source? DV tape? Digibeta?
What kind of drive are you digitizing to?
Versions of everything: OSX, FCP, QT, etc… -
Ah, nevermind… I took the Gen10 and flipped switches with AJA Control Panel open until I figured it out.

This is a good point: sometimes that $30K reference monitor is too good.
Like in any good audio suite – you always check your mix on the big monitors, the small speakers, and the mono TV speaker on a 13″ wal mart special.
