I don’t know the answer, I don’t think anyone on this board has used Final Cut Express… Does it still exist?
I have the feeling ProRes will smash Intermediate codec into the ground. Intermediate codec seemed like a 12 month stopgap while Apple invented better methods of HD ingest

Unfortunately this is the way FCP was built from the ground up. And yeah, you can get into a big mess easily. you have to be vigilant. I’ve spent many hours at the end of a job trying to collect all the bits and pieces… and pulling out my hair in the process
However, if at the end of a job, you want a tidy little package of your final timeline… you can use Media Manager to make a copy of everything you used into a new folder.
p.s. don’t say “file” when you mean “folder.” you’ll confuse us!

Sounds like you timeline settings don’t match. If the file exported is big, that means it had to render something (like an effect). Perhaps your timeline was set to progressive and you put interlaced footage into it and it has to transcode?

Ask the Flame operator who will be doing the grading. They all know exactly what they want from you – but they all seem to want things a little differently than the last guy.
From the FCP side make sure to turn off “add space before number” in the ouput of your image sequence. And don’t use any spaces or characters besides underscore in your file name.

Do you mean shifting as in physical position, or does it have the wrong In/out points on your clips?
Which version of FCP?
Are you paste/copying to the same timebase? i.e. 29.97fps or 23.98?

Good to know Bob. I’m running the BVM from the Kona 3’s component out and it looks 100% as good as SDI was.

Just some regular SD, dv50 and uncompressed. so it’s all YUV based.

Yep. I love how much more complicated the Sony decks are getting. And there’s nothing you can do except learn their quips by much trial and error.
at least they’re mildly easier than a D5 to program.
