Keep having to put in Serial Number
Posted by Eli Mavros on May 19, 2008 at 7:52 pmA company that I am freelancing at just bought FCP6 and I installed it, but everytime I quit FCP and open it again, it asks me to enter the serial number. Has anyone ever had this happen?
Thanks,

May 20, 2008 at 2:21 pmOooh…I don’t know. That could definitely be the case here. Will check on it. So to solve it what did you do? Did you have to reinstall or log in with administrator rights and then enter the serial?
Thanks,

May 20, 2008 at 2:37 pmHad to go to Application Support in Library and trash the Final Cut Studio System ID in the ProApps folder and then relaunch…Fixed it. Awesome! Thanks for the posts guys and girls.

damn, you know, I should have remembered that.
That is also how you can change your serial number.
If you have fcp installed on another machine for evaluation to see if you really need another edit room, then you buy another seat, trash the file and put your new number in. -

September 11, 2008 at 7:26 pmi’m having this same problem, but every time i enter the serial number, it says it’s invalid. but it’s the number right off the discs that i used to install it, but it won’t let me into final cut. i looked in the application support folder in the library, but there isn’t even a proapps folder in there.
do you have any suggestions? -

March 2, 2010 at 3:01 pmhello,
Can anyone be specific again with the file path? I’m looking in: /Library/ApplicationSupport/ProApps. Im seeing a DVD studio system ID and a Logic Express system ID but no final cut studio system ID. Any ideas?
thanks,
