my bad I was in a rush and failed to see that it did not export the whole thing and that it actually douse use the Flip4Mac plugin.

I just find it odd that apple clames in their intro video that it douse but neglects to say that you must add a plug in

That used to be true with Compressor 2 but not with Compressor 3.

The compressor 3 intro video on apple.com clearly states that you can now do WMV, and by the way you can also now do FLV in compressor also.

I just did a little test and it seemed to work fine. I do not have the pro version of Flip4Mac on my compute, I only have the player plug in.

Here is how you do it in compressor. You first choose your format conversion as if you were going to convert it to a different quicktime file. Then in the inspector change quicktime move to quicktime export components. Then under set encoder type choose WMV, and if you click on options you can even choose what version of windows media you want to export for.

It wasn’t just the interface to compressor that got worked over.

You also want to know what format of DV thy want, do they want uncompressed, DV50, DVC Pro etc.

First find out exactly what settings they want it in, and then use compressor to convert it to those settings.

If you have the new compressor 3 it, will let you convert to a windows media file. I have not actually tried it myself but I did see the option in compressor 3.

Yes use compressor. It will let you get better DVD encodings then just letting DVD SP do it. With Compressor you have the control.

Compressor is also extremely useful to compress for the web, and to compress for many other deliverable options.

First off this has topic has been covered a lot here on the cow, a simple search will bring up a lot of information.

Why are you using iDVD, as a professional I would never deliver a DVD that would look like one that my 8 year old neighbor could make. Use DVD Studio Pro, iDVD gives you no control over the encoding of the video.

Export using compressor this will give you much more control over the compression of the video. Then bring in the compressed files into DVD SP.

What have you tried so far? You never said.

Try repairing disk permissions, if that douse not work trash the preference file, if that douse not work try reinstalling the application.

Because it will not boot from any of those other disks it sounds like it is most likely the logic board. To be sure you will need to have it looked at by a genius at the apple store.

it sound like it is probably the logic board, will it let you boot from your install disk?

As far as moving to a G5, even they are old now. Apple has not made a G5 for quite some time, Apple is now using Intel processors. Look into the Mac Pro.
