you need to enter the user name and password for the computer you are connecting it to, not the one that you are connecting from.

Sounds like a kernal panic, have you changed any thing on the computer lately. Added any new peaces of hardware, or software.

Kernal Panics are hard to diagnose I would sign up for an apointment at the genius bar at your closest apple store and let them take a look.

Apple douse not sell the OS as a download. Did you illegally download the software. You could not have upgraded the OS with out a disk.

I’m sorry but kernal panics can have so many different causes. if it is hard war then you have to figure out which piece of hardware is causing it. Its not really something that some one can trouble shoot online.

But you could try just reinstalling the OS, if the issue persists then take it in.

They are not going to charge you to look at it and if it is software they help you at the bar or give instructions of what to do at home. The only way you would have to fork over money is if there is a physical problem with a hardware component in the computer. And you would have to do this anyway.

So saying that you are going to have to fork over money douse not hold up.

You cannot take the drives out of your G4 and put them in the G5 they have different connections to the computer.

The easy way it to use the migration assistant, start up the new computer and it will ask you if you want to migrate data from the old, click yes and it walks you through the whole thing. It will not copy data from a second internal drive so you will need to copy that yourself.

When switching from a G5 to Intel you cannot simply switch system drives as well the Intel machine will need the Intel version of the OS. Again use the migration assistant when you first start up the computer.

Sometimes they are caused by software, but are most often caused by a bad piece of hardware.
