[FinalOne] “it is my opinion to call HDV a wannabe HD as it uses MPEG-2 Long GOP recording, but since Sony is fixated on using HDV as their HD of choice, it is leading many to disregard true quality of picture for convenience.”
HDV is HD, it is just a compressed format of HD
The definition of HD is anything larger then SD video, HDV video ether 1080 or 720 and therefor by definition is HD. When people say that HDV is not “real HD” or is a “wannabe HD” it makes them sound like they don’t know what HD is. Because by definition HDV is “real HD” Sure it is a compressed format of HD,
I don’t remember people complaining that DV was not “real SD” or that it was “wannabe SD” DV is just a more compressed format of SD then others. Just like HDV is a more compressed format of HD.

The easy and best way to do this would be to upgrade both systems to FCP6

[Kerry Brown] “Check out this review right here on the COW.

It will be fine, just reboot and repair the disk permissions after just to be safe.

I should just be there it always has for me.
[Bob Flood] “i though flat screens were supposed to be much much more consistent than CRT’s?”
They are but they are still not perfect. I have to flat-panels that are the exact same model and there are still color differences when every thing is set exactly the same.
Again for the best results look into a monitor calibrator like

I was not trying to be condescending, I was just stating what I have observed others do and how it has hurt them.
I did also comment on your problem, you however did not answer the question that I asked.
How are you viewing the footage. This will help us understand what you might be seeing.

[Lori] “it was too big for iDVD…any suggestions?”
Why would you want to use iDVD anyway. How would your client feel if the DVD you give him looks just like the one his 10 year old kid just made. From then on in his eyes your work will be amateurish.
If your time line is interlaced then anything you put on it will be interlaced. How are you viewing the footage? Computer screens will are not interlaced, for it to look right watch it on a interlaced device like a TV.

I know, Its just been a long couple of days so I am tired.
I like to think that guys in Utah are experts at knowing how to treat woman. It is the marriage capital of the world.
Problem is there are way to many people who think they know video, and offer a video for next to nothing because daddy bought their computer and camera. Thus the reason I don’t like doing weddings.

[David Roth Weiss] “Yeah, you guys in Utah sure know how to treat ’em…”
That has nothing to do with it.
I just don’t think that putting something like that in a subject heading just to get people is read it is appropriate.
