Sure they were not full shooting days, but they were still full days away from other work you could have been doing.

First off there is no need to copy and past all that into the post, only Apple Software engineers will be able to make anything of it.

Well FCP will not do it for you, but you can manually color tag a clip once you used it. or occasionally I create two bins one for used clips, and one for unused.

All MPEG based video is GOP based. HDV and DVD’s are examples of some. In each GOP or “Group Of Pictures” there is one iFrame or complete frame and all other frames in the GOp are based off of the iFrame. HDV video for example typically has an iFrame every 7 or 15 frames this is why sports and fast paced action don’t look quite as good when shot in HDV. The smaller the GOP size the better the quality of the video, but at the same time it also increases the file size.

This is what makes editing HDV footage so problematic. Whenever a cut is made in between new iFrames is made, a new iFrame must be created. Thus the long conforming process with HDV.

It is easy to grab a flash from a web site.

In safari all you need to do is from the menu bar choose window, and then activity. This shows a list of every element of the page that loads up. Usually it is the largest file and is still in the process of downloading. Double click on that file and it starts to download it.

And there are many programs that will convert it to a QT file for you.

If your original HDV was 1080 then it wasnt upraised at all because the frame size stayed the same. It was just simply converted to another format.

Was the original footage soft in the first place?

Just noticed that. You can’t sell that software if you plan to install it on your new machine. Absolutely illegal to do so. If you plan to keep the original software and install it on a new machine, you MUST erase all of that from the machine you’re selling.

If you are getting rid of Studio 2 altogether and the other software, then you MUST include all the original discs, manuals, etc… with the sale of the computer.”

Amen, I had a boss that bought a computer like that once, he thought he was getting a great deal. But all he got was an overpriced computer and a drive full of illegal software.

But this boss want vary honest anyway so he would not purchase legit software for it.

Wipe the drive and reinstall the OS, they can then set up there own user account on the computer.

Don’t edit from a USB drive, and keep the project file on a different drive, that way if the media drive goes out, you can proceed using a backup or by recapturing.

USB can only send packets of info, it cannot sustain a constant transfer rate like firewire can. They are fine for backups but not to edit from.
