Explain a little better what you mean by hang up. I think that you may be experiences similar issues to what a lot of other people are experiencing and that is problems with the driver for the esata card on your MBP

Here is a previous post on the issue https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/1002756

The issue stems from the chip that is used in every esata card I can find for the mac, they say that the driver for the chip is good with leopard, but the driver was made a year before leopard was even released.

I’ve had issues where that bad driver has caused FCP to crash, restart the computer, and kernel panic. It ONLY happens when I use cards that use that driver. I have had to resort to using FW800 in the until the chip manufacturer gets off there behind and updates the driver.

What version of the OS do you have?

Usually you just double click on it.

Yes you can do it in FCE by key framing every picture but if you use Fotomagico it will save you a TON of time

[Michael Gissing] “The original post says “I;m trying to edit footage shot on the Sony HVR-V1U”

That’s an HDV camera. Why she wants to convert to 1920 x 1080 m2t files is the issue.”

I am guessing that the files were recorded on to a DTE Drive that records in the m2t format, that is why they are already in the m2t format.

What format was the footage captured as in FCP 6?

This is important because FCE is extremely limited on the formats it can work with.

Are you doing any editing in FCP, or are you just wanting to get the VHS tapes onto DVD.

If you are just wanting to get then to DVD, then just get a set top DVD Player/Recorder and record them directly to DVD.

Just keep in mind that VHS quality is POOR do you cant expect a great picture.

[Rafael Amador] “Really interesting device. “

The turbo.264 is GREAT, I have one for my G5 Tower and am considering getting one for my MBP. If you use the eyeTV to record TV on your computer like I do it is even more useful.

[Nate Stephens] “they might have the same chip, but I think Addonics has the lowest of low prices 44 bucks and it supports Portmultiplier technology… And now they have the new Raid 5 express card for 55 bucks… just might have to look into that one..”

Same Chip + Same Driver = SAME PROBLEMS

I dont care if the price is cheep I want something that will NOT give me same problem.

There raid card is the same card with a raid driver added on top of the standard driver. Believe me I have looked into them.

[Jeremy Garchow] “That’s strange. You installed the drivers, no?”

I assume that you are referring to the post on the Sonnet FW cord not working at all. The Sonnet FW card uses a driver that is built into 10.5, it does not require any additional driver for the mac (it does on windows)

I am betting that the reason that it is not working on his machine is that his machine just happens to be the one machine that the Sonnet FW card will not work on.

    From Sonnets site.

“Not currently compatible with 15” MacBook Pro, Model Identifier 2, 2. Compatible with all other models. Check System Profiler (Apple Menu->About This Mac->More Info) for Model Identifier.
