You may be OK I think it only needs the new quicktime to play any NEW video purchases from the iTunes store.

Your play back settings in FCP may not be set to the highest quality. But that is besides the point, a computer monitor is NOT the place to be judging image quality of video that is playing in FCP. YOU NEED a properly connected and calibrated video monitor for that.
I am still betting money that it has to do with how the DVD was made. And you still have provided absolutely NO info about any of your project or workflow on how you made the DVD.
Without MORE INFO from YOU I nor anyone else can answer your question.
Start by telling us about what type of video you are working with, what project setup you used in FCP and how you made the DVD.

Im betting it is more a issue of the camera not lining up properly, the camera MUST be in the EXACT same position each time. ANY slight difference will be vary noticeable.
Inside a car with out a proper camera mount it would be extremely difficult to get it perfect.

This sounds more like an issue with how the DVD is being made. You did not give any info on your project settings, and no information about how you made the DVD. So without any info it will be impossible to tell you what the issue might be.

My friend who works at the Apple Store tells me that they do not carry the Academic version in the Apple Store. Apparently they come in different boxes one with the retail license and code and one with the academic license and code.
You can order the academic one online or at most college bookstores though.

BIG question is what versions of the adobe software are you installing. It may not be fully compatible with your old OS.

Silicon Image is the manufacturer of the chip that is used in the card they say that there card id compatible with leopard however the date on the base driver is OLDER then leopard is so something is not quire right. Yes the date on the raid driver is close to the release of leopard, but keep in mind that is a additional driver for raid support not the driver to just use the card.

Every esata card that works with mac that I have seen has the same chip in it even though the label on the card may be from what ever company, inside the card they all have the same chip.
I have downloaded drivers from every esata card that states it is compatible with the macbook pro. When looking at the package contents of every one of them thy all contain the same SSiI3132 inside.
Im attempting to contact Silicon Image the maker of the chip and driver, however they are making it difficult because they list no email for support.

YUP thats the PROBLEM driver.

I wish that would fix it but it will NOT.
Do a test and use a drive that does NOT connect via your esata card, Im betting you will find it works fine.
Its the JANKY driver for the card.
