Try deleting all your render files and then try exporting again.

In the future I recommend including a statement in your contracts that are signed before any work begins that says that you reserve the right to use work you do to promote your video business.

[Mark Windt] “Would FCP’s media managment be able to more efficiently manage the amount of events on the NAS?”

I don’t think you really under stand what Media Manager does in FCP.

This is a little over view
    https://fcproducer.com/2007/11/final-cut-pro-media-manager-tutorial-part-1/

Also media manager ONLY works with FCP projects.

One other thing to also note, is that footage captured in iMovie does not always play so nice in FCP. Thee two programs capture video differently so any video captured in iMovie will need to render in FCP.

FCP is Quicktime based and swf files are flashed based. So they will not work together.

You will need to convert the files to a FCP friendly format. Or even better get ahold of the original video files that were used to create the swf files, you will get much better quality that way.

May 29, 2009 at 2:26 pm in reply to: replacing hard drive on MBP

[Trevor Ward] “I have a 2 year old MBP with only a 100GB hard drive. How easy is it to install a new, larger hard drive? I’d kind of like more space for capture files”

You get POOR performance when you capture and edit from the same drive as your OS and applications. The internal drive already has plenty to do, running the OS applications etc, piling video on top of that is just not a good idea.

I recommend getting a small bus powered drive that can be attached. With a bus powdered drive you don’t have to plug it into a wall for power.

As for how difficult it is, well for some people it is not difficult at all, and for others it may be kinda difficult it all depends on your technical knowledge and experience.

Keep in mind that doing it yourself technically voids any warranty you may have, so I always recommend having it done by a certified Apple Technician.

May 29, 2009 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Optimizing MAC Pro with FCP

[Nick Falangas] “Now I have been reading from others who have purchased a MAC PRO to edit on FCP that they are still having to wait a while for their files to render and that most of all that memory and processors are not even being used”

[Nick Falangas] “Can anyone explain to me how much memory FCP is using”

That is a limitation of the program, the ram limit is because FCP is a 32 bit application and ALL 32 bit applications can only use a max of 4gb or ram. Unfortunately one cannot just flip a switch and make a 32 bit program a 64 bit program, it requires a complete re wright of the program code.

[Nick Falangas] “how I could optimize FCP using my future Mac Pro?”

Well simply put to use the full potential of that machine you wait and purchase the new version when ever apple decides to release that.
