iMovie Library vs. FCP
Help! My boss currently has 3+TB of imovie events. Over 2TB are stored on a NAS drive. The new iMovie has removed the ability to copy events to NAS drives and I have used the SymLink work around for now. The problem is that with only half the events loaded, it takes 10min. + just to open iMovie. The network is a fast Gigabit setup with a good switch. Would FCP’s media managment be able to more efficiently manage the amount of events on the NAS? Any help in finding a solution would be helpfull. Thank you!

I don’t think you really under stand what Media Manager does in FCP.

One other thing to also note, is that footage captured in iMovie does not always play so nice in FCP. Thee two programs capture video differently so any video captured in iMovie will need to render in FCP.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
