well yes, now i get the trace and thanbk you BUT, im following along in Aharon’s demo, and he has a second layer, a solid created by the autotrace, i can’t achieve this, im so confused

for referance on aharon’s footage check the tuturials (the non ipod version should be posted tonight, as they are a week behind

ok, ok, few, sorry searched through my plugins folder, dound out i had a bunch of little stowaways trying to hop on for a free ride from 6.5,

ok, well id on’t know what you’ve tried, so here’s a list of pokes and prods to try

under the view menu
first see whats under “video playback” if it’s an item thats been grayed out (apple ntsc firewire for example) then go to the option right above it, and say refresh av devices.
It’s its not grayed out, (as in it’s in normal black font, go up to external video and set it to all frams (or cmd f12)

now if neither of those or a combination of them don’t work go to finalcut pro menu to audio/video settings, first open the tab “device controle presets” and make sure the proper device is selected (fire wire ntsc or what ever setting you need) next go to the tab next to it entitled “a/v devices” and make sure all the correct settings (apple ntsc firewire) is selected, and make sure if you have a different export for tapes thats done as well, make sure all the options under the options button are correct as well.

Now having said this, i must say apple is odd, you may want to quit out and reopen, try coneecting the device some other way (through a drive perhaps, or if your already conencted through the drive, close your current project, and direct connect it, and try it to see if that works)

fiddling and tinkering with all the above ideas should sove your solution, even just truning your devices on and off many things, ive expereinced all kinds of odd troublesand usually just fiddling gets them to recognize or work, or play back, but the number one thing i see forgotten in that playback isnot sel to all frames, just remember cmd F12

ok, all outsourcing aside, the following is at hand:

1) Windows vista is already been succesfully installed and is being speed tested on several computers.

2) as a sidenote, they’ve (and by they i mean computer wizz’s across the world) have tripple botted with linux as well, for all those who, idon’t know, have a reason for that.

3) I think we’re looking at this wrong, as we begin to “dual boot” and “virtualize” many people will see the power behind macs, I forget what tech magazine recently published an article headlined “The fastest p.c. ever, A mac” wheather that means people will keep going with windows, or windows will blend into mac, after all, it’s cheaper to buy windows o.s. then a licenced microstoft machine, companies like del and gateway will slowly wither and systems will streamline into apple as it takes the market share, (if as we’ve said, companies begin to onyl develope for windows, for the sheer purpase of dual booting). The market won’t support “extra programing” eventually people will relize, why buy a brand new G(insert # here)for X dollars, than buy say vista for this example, for another 300 dollers plus. it’s marketing streamlining, basic economics.

4) as previusly stated, avid can’t just be stuck onto a machine, a full avid set up needs hardware not supported by a g5

well, im recieving my, what i assume, is the academic version through Journeyed.com in several days (ordered today, 2day dilvery) i will post back when it comes, but im not sure if it’s teh academic version (journy ed is very od like that) i will update!

well, in contrast on my laptop, g4 powerbook, doing a similer key and background compositing for roughly 5 min film, took roughly 3 hours..id be happy (no nucleo)

if you think it’s bad you may be able to tweek nucleo, i don’t know if you have or havn’t so im not sure., but i dbe happy, i found out today, in the creation of Azlan the lion in The lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in voodoo (i think thats teh program i could be worng) took 10 hours per frame, and that was faster then what they were used to!

ok, well if it wasn’t for the idea’s of sexual harassment, asualt and the fact that im at this computer and your at yourse, i could kiss you debe.

and you just have to make sure that your player is set to th very begining of your selection. otherwise it will overwrite from where ever the player is at ino your timeline
