yes, i had to do it once before, and i couldn’t just bring it in as a wmv, i had to open it in quicktime and export it as another format, and than bring it in, finalcut, though it supports q.t. does not support f4m from what i understood

    file>interperate footage>main

    set your pixel aspect ratio.

oh, you guys never stop to inspire me,

I go to brooks institute of photography, we run year round with 2 month long “sessions” this is acutally my second 8 min short this session. Fortunatly, the next six months are spent shooting 16mm on one project, 2 months for pre, 2 for production, and 2 for my specialty-post.

we showed a rough cut today in class and nobody commented on the sky, so ive been given the executive order to not care. though i may try later, (i mean how awsome would that be for reel footage, show before and after)

thanks again for all your input, im going to try my best, but i showed my director what you’ve come up with, and explained, you all have oh, i don’t know, a thousand times more experience than I (im on month 6 or so with after effects, and though i pick it up quick, im no Aharon, not yet atleast, I have to earn that extra ‘H’ between my two ‘A’s

well thanks for the help guys, i may go in with some other footage and clonestamp a bunch of the footage.

    thanks again

oh i apologize, i typed hastily, in after effects you can intereperate the footage in the way specified above,

i don’t know avid so well, but in the capture settings should be something about dvntsc anamorphic,

the same setting should be available in your sequence, but im not sure, like i said avid=not my expertiece.

so after effects it is, just go to the interperate footage menu and go from there

in, finalcut, there is a way, in the cropsettings, to change your aspect ratio, and it just unsqueezes your footage.

  • whats your total hd space?

alot of times when h.d get to around full like, 80-85% full it sends out “full” messages, try to always have space on your harddrives.

clear out some space and try it again

ok, first off, how are you bringing it in

often times capturesystems and non linear edditors havea setting for dvntsc anamorphic, and it will do the streatching

secondly, if you just have “squeezed” footage that comes in as normal 4:3 footage, right or control click on it, and go to interperate footage:main and go down to pixel aspect ratio adn change that, to where it fits which will either have a preset or you can just enter the ratio as 1.2

ive been working with this footage for the last couple of months, it’s not so bad, actually there’s more footage here then normal 4:3

ouch, i was afraid you were all going to say that, i was just praying for some sort of, “oh yea, just go here here and here, and all your aborted footage will be saved”

oh well one can dream can’t he, we try not to recycle tapes, but we ran out of good tapes at that point, miles away from any consumer electronics store, a sad day for me, o well.

thanksguys, i think i just died a little inside, but it’s ok.

i apologise, im bad with spelling, infact, reallybad, like 98percentile in california standard tests across the board, except a 22percentile in spelling, editing (or edditing as i like to type) is just a bad habbit,

but thanks for the spelling pointers (i tend to catchit on here)
