Composition for 16:9 DV Footage?
I have a mini-dv tape that the camera man shot in 16:9 mode (cough cough). Like where the video is viewed as a 4:3 image, but needs to be shrinked down vertically to look ‘normal’.
I’m wondering how I should setup my compositions and what measurements they should be. Only a few of my planned compositions will be including the stretched footage.
I was thinking I should create normal 4:3 compositions, but have 2 black rectangles as a ‘letterboxing’ appearance. Then i’ll shrink all my footage within my NLE (Avid Xpress 4.6).
Anybody know what percentage the 16:9 needs to be shrunk by to look normal? Any idea where the placement of my letterboxing black recntagles should be?
