  • “exceeds hard drive space” but I have plenty of space????

My computer only renders to 4 gigs and then says there is no more hard drive space. I have 40some gbs. Is there a setting on my hard drive(I am using a external, not my C:), or on my OS, or after effects setting that would allow my whole project to render? I am running a Windows system. If anyone knows the answer, I would be very happy. Thanks, Becca

There is a 4GB file size limit on drives formatted to FAT32, if I recall. The drive needs to be formatted to NTFS.

Click the Drive within My Computer to see the file system.

    whats your total hd space?

alot of times when h.d get to around full like, 80-85% full it sends out “full” messages, try to always have space on your harddrives.

clear out some space and try it again

That could be it! I have another drive that is formated to NTFS so I will try it render the project on that drive instead. Thanks

I don’t think that is it because I have 46 available gigs of a total of 120.

You were right about the NTFS vs Fat32. It rendered complete! Thanks again

    Ah, that’s good.

Nowadays, FAT32 is only useful when going between Mac and Windows.
