Thanks Ed… I swear a lot of software programs rely on mental telepathy when you look at their native help files

March 16, 2009 at 1:30 am in reply to: Saving a Plug in Pre set with MERCALLI

    Graham,

For some reason I went back to re-createe the problem and perhaps take a screen shot… and it worked.

I right click on the video clip that I want to work on — mercalli is in the video chain ( if not – click on it to add it to the chain…)

but today it seemed to work.. perhaps I spoke too soon?..

Basically.. it is in Sony’s preset right about the Mercalli Profile

I’ll post again if i have problems

Are you saving within the Vegas Preset section? Just under what would be the “chain”? If this is the case then what I need to do is to write an actual name for the Preset – eg: GB_Plane_1a and if I make some further tweaks to it I can can call it GB_Plane_2a. When I do this I can call back each Preset and I can SEE the settings change. However, you do need to save each one with an individual name.

Yes i am saving in the Preset vegas section right above the mercalli plugin,

Yes.. i set mercalli to desired settings,, then entered a preset name and hit the save icon..

So.. i see that it did work this time.. -perhaps it was me post again if i have another problem.

    thanks

February 25, 2009 at 1:43 pm in reply to: rendering from vegas for QT PRO H264 for youtube

    hi Allen…

Yes, i read DSE’s article.. and he confirmed a lot of what i knew.. Square Pixels.. frame rate, but my mp4 files don’t play in you tube..

I’m trying to export square pixels, uncompressed, progressive scann to AVI for Quicktime pro can render it to H264.. but when ever i mess with the AVI file format Quicktime does not import my audio..

i made a new post that perhaps cleared up what my problem really is…

Getting AVI ( with proper settings for progressive scan) in to quicktime

thanks for taking the time to help!

  • Multiple incoming signals ( like more than two tracks of audio )

Nope.. not to the best of my knowledge.. unless someone knows of a hardware solution ( capture card) that will interface.

I would take this to the pro audio forum if i were you,.

vegas is great with audio.. but its not a multi track recorder to the best of my knowledge.

Youre gonna need some hardware ( and a lot more money) to do what you want unless i totally mis-read your post. So.. unless you are talking about 2 channels of audio ( at a time).. you are going to need some more cash my friend!…

if two channels ( at a time ) will work.. then vegas and sound forge together will do everything you want to do…
sound forge is good for tweaking audio..compression, master effect bundle.. etc but sound forge will not multi track.. so you would open the track in question right from vegas to create a copy in soundforge.. work on it and it puts it right back there for you (keeping your original track untouched)

you can have as many audio tracks as you want.. its just a matter of how many you can record at once!

This ain’t a live mixer!…. other than that.. its hard to beat.

February 25, 2009 at 2:16 am in reply to: rendering from vegas for QT PRO H264 for youtube

I thought all of that looked familiar.. – that main concept AAV mp4 file type.. it plays great in QT but when it uploads to youtube there’s nothing there…

So.. end result is, my searching on here has not resulted in anything definitive… the best info i got so far was to upload H264 rendered from QT pro.. so back to my original question…

whats the best render for QT pro.. or what is the procedure to render out hi quality video to youtube ( hi-quality..all things considered)…

    Thanks
