Renders depend wholly on your machine. We never export XDCAM anything so I couldn’t tell you what’s normal and not. Our ProRes exports on a 12 Core Mac with dual nVidia cards takes approx. realtime, usually a little faster. So a 29 minute timeline exports in about 27 – 29 min. We’re expecting much faster speeds with newer machines coming online soon.

No clue honestly. We use ScreenLight for client reviews and anything else they want to see. It’s a secure site so they login and can review anything. Best part is the comment section so they can put they can easily timestamp notes right on the site.
For clips that small it’s usually impossible to see anything so if it’s interview only, just export the audio and forget the video.

We do super high resolution MP4’s for YouTube, around 17mbps or so and they turn out as well as we would expect. Make sure you’re watching the clips in full 720 or 1080p HD. YouTube usually defaults to 360p playback when you hit the site.

Yes, but when you’re using Adobe Premiere Pro, you must change that to anything BUT the AJA IoXT for the audio to work correctly inside PPro.

Set your Mac System Prefs > Audio to anything BUT the AJA. I have mine set to Internal speakers.

Just an FYI, we started out doing this since we switched from FCP to Premiere Pro a year ago and about 2 months in we made the switch to full native workflow, render at the end. Especially coming from 11 years on FCP and a Quicktime workflow.
it’s a MUCH faster to go native all the way until the end, especially if you have a CUDA enabled machine, although even our regular iMacs can render pretty darn quickly with CS6. We never convert anything anymore unless we have to for format conversion purposes. Just an FYI as one FCP switcher to another.

You can use products like AJA, BlackMagic Design and Matrox to add a true video output from your premiere pro system. Depending on your configuration these can be internal cards or external boxes.
We feed a Flanders Scientific reference monitor from all of our Premiere Pro systems via AJA and BMD products.

Was this file originally recorded from another source such as a tape machine?
I’ve never heard of a file exported from within an NLE digitally creating dropped frame. Outputting to Tape, sure, but never just creating a digital file within the computer.

Have never seen this. Have you repaired disc permissions anytime recently? We try to do that at least every 2-3 weeks to keep the machines running smoothly.
Might want to start there.
