AVCHD has always been the most problematic codec on our CS6 systems and the slowest. Hoping this is improved in CC.

Magic Bullet Looks slows down everything. That’s a massive plug-in in terms of what you need done to the image to play it back. You need dual nVidia cards to really get that plug-in to work in realtime. There are, however, many native plug-ins and even some of the Magic Bullet plug-ins that do work very well in realtime.

Been running CS6 with a FW800 8TB RAID attached to my iMac for the past year. No problems other than being a bit slow since no nVidia card in there, but totally functional. Have cut multiple television pitches on there and a bunch of other stuff.
Works fine, certainly not as fast as our new iMacs or the Mac Pros, but it works. Much faster than with FCP 7 that’s for sure.

Been working with our Small Tree Communications SAN for almost a year now. We follow Richard Harrington’s guidelines for setting up all our scratch discs and files, etc…. Works brilliantly across 6 workstations. An Editor’s Guide to Adobe Premiere Pro is the handbook every editor should have.

I’ve been running CS6 on my three year old iMac well over a year. It’s the same one I tested CC on during the sneak peek. Forget the hack, just wait for CC to release and you’ll see a huge performance increase on your iMac.

I will say that the new Premiere Pro CC alone created a huge jump in performance on my non-CUDA 3 year old iMac while I was allowed to play with it.

No, F9 IS the default for the FCP keyboard, all those Function Keys are default for FCP, always have been. Just when they came out with with the Expose and crap, you had to turn those commands off. So the Adobe keyboard layout is correct as is.

First off, with CS6 you need an nVidia CUDA card for the FASTEST renders, and fast processors help.
We struggled with this exact task when we switched from FCP 7 too. Here’s what you do.
In the timeline, add an Adjustment layer at the very top, usually you need to add a video layer. Make it the length of your entire timeline.
Add Video Effects > Video > Timecode (I think that’s where it is) to the Adjustment layer.
Resize and position as you see fit.
Now Export from your timeline and it’ll burn in the TC.
You can choose from a myriad of settings from your Export settings.

I’m assuming FCP X will work with DNxHD Quicktimes because FCP 7 could as long as you install the Avid codecs on both machines, which are freely downloaded from Avid’s site.
An alternative would be to export very high resolution H.264 files which we’ve done in the past.

Well my guess is that the encoder doesn’t like something in the last section or the very very end of the file. Hence lengthen or shorten it slightly to see if that makes a difference. Just one of those “weird things” that happens I guess. Lengthening or shortening the output is what usually works for me.

What is at the end? Anything or just fade to nothing? Add some black at the end and extend the outpoint by 1 or 2 frames. OR shorten the outpoint by one or two frames.
