Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 & Adobe Media Encoder CS6 Unknown error right at the end
Posted by David Hare on May 7, 2013 at 11:46 pmHi i’m hoping someone anyone can help me out here. This has just started to happen today. I’ve gone to render out 30 minutes of canon xf300 MXF video from Premiere too start with then i tried media encoder. When it reaches the end it sticks and freezes then i get an unknown error flash up on the screen. Now i’ve added no effect or anything to the video. Usually i would have no problem with this at all but today this is happening. Does anyone know why?
Have i done something to the settings? it makes no sense to me at all and its very annoying.
Any help would be fantastic.

May 7, 2013 at 11:48 pmAre you rendering to an external drive across a Windows network where you hit a 2GB file limit by any chance?

May 8, 2013 at 12:17 amHave you output Canon MXF footage from your timeline before?
One suggestion, and this is old school. Put a blank title over the video and then render it out. Then try to export.

May 8, 2013 at 12:22 amHi, yes ive i shoot on the canon xf300 and xf100 all the time and rendered with no issuses. Ive got a time code on a transparent layer over the video but again ive done this loads. im bafflied as to what is doing this.
Ive just tried rendering out shot sections and that worked perfectly in both premiere and AME. It just seems to stick on the last frame then says unknow error in premiere and it just says failed in AME.

What is at the end? Anything or just fade to nothing? Add some black at the end and extend the outpoint by 1 or 2 frames. OR shorten the outpoint by one or two frames.

May 8, 2013 at 12:31 amTheres nothing at the end of the video. Ill try that now but i dont understand why that may work whilst rendering a longer video when i can render out a short section and its fine? very strange, ill give that a go now.

Well my guess is that the encoder doesn’t like something in the last section or the very very end of the file. Hence lengthen or shorten it slightly to see if that makes a difference. Just one of those “weird things” that happens I guess. Lengthening or shortening the output is what usually works for me.
