Dude, I was just going to say the same thing. I replaced my Alesis Point Sevens with a pair of these KRK’s and they just awesome! I’m going to put them into my second suite shortly as well. Got them at Guitar Center here in Atlanta and you can find them at http://www.musiciansfriend as well.

You can purchase a myriad of third party products to add functionality to an FCP system which takes you all the way to HD so Apple does not need to release anything. Look at AJA, Decklink, Aurora to name a few.
What’s not stable about FCP 4.5? Been running here since it was released and it’s definitely the most stable NLE I’ve run, especially with OS 10.3.8. FCP 5 is still shaking itself out so I wouldn’t recommend throwing that right into a mission critical project yet, but FCP 4.5 with OS 10.3.8, rock solid.

In theory yes, I’ve never had to perform this procedure and I just cut online all the time. Media Manager is THE weakest part of Final Cut Pro so you may have to massage it a few times to get it to work correctly.

Did you use the Media Manager to convert the 10bit material to DV25? You don’t lose the timecode doing that method. If you simply exported all the clips as DV, then yes, you’ll lose the timecode.

Not really. I only tested a Decklink card briefly last year. I pretty much migrated from CineWave to Kona 2 and Aurora PipePro.

No clue, you’ll need to check with Pinnacle. Just be advised that the product line is all but dead at Pinnacle so be sure you really want it for the Chroma Key before purchase.

No thoughts yet. I just installed Tiger / FCP Studio onto my secondary editing system and will test it out on a “non mission critical” project for at least a month before putting it onto our primary editing system. I want to make sure everything works as advertised with both Tiger and the full FCP Studio. Will certainly let you folks know what I think as I play with everything.

I’m wiping all of my system drives clean and started with an erased disk, then doing a complete clean install of the OS and all my applications. So far my secondary system has been upgraded this way and so far so good. I still have a bunch of apps to re-install, but the OS and FCP Studio were an easy install.
I don’t like “upgrading” any OS, the best way to go is to start over. Takes a bit longer on the install, but saves a lot of headaches later.

CineWave is the only product with Realtime Chroma Key in FCP. The product is about to die, but it uses the Primatte keyer and is incredibly clean. I have cut multiple shows with it in the past when I used to more green screen. As long as the drives are fast (SCSI or Fibre) Chroma key is no issue.

Why aren’t you using that system then? It’s pretty obvious from the FCP material that realtime chroma key is not supported natively. You’re blaming FCP for missing your deadlines in your post, yet you’re asking it to do something which is not supported. I think you got the wrong NLE for your project. So my advice is either switch to this Edius or add the CineWave card with the RT Pro option. Look for it on eBay.

Not a whole lot of help here, but were you running ok with OS 10.3.8 and FCP 4.5? I’ve found FCP 4.5 to be rock solid stable with OS 10.3.8 and have recommended to folks I know to stay at that OS unless you want to move to FCP 5.
