Well,
What goes around comes around I guess. I went to the Apple store and complained about my bad experience last weekend and they gave me some pointers that worked. It all works fine. Very happy and moving on.

Hey Telly,
I guess the main thing was just to let the Tiger install do what it defaults to, upgrade the OS. Dunno, but it all worked, FCP 5 is running fine, Motion, Compressor, Live Type, SoundtrackPro, everything seems normal. Just like any other update, all of which have been flawless to date.

I’m wiping all of my system drives clean and started with an erased disk, then doing a complete clean install of the OS and all my applications. So far my secondary system has been upgraded this way and so far so good. I still have a bunch of apps to re-install, but the OS and FCP Studio were an easy install.
I don’t like “upgrading” any OS, the best way to go is to start over. Takes a bit longer on the install, but saves a lot of headaches later.

Hey Wally,
It seems my problems with a clean install, which I did for the second time after the Tiger Upgrade ultimately failed, had to do with a SCSI drive going bad. I moved my new project to my backup drives and it worked great. So far testing on older projects has worked fine, knock on wood…
