One suggestion I made to BM during beta testing was to bold the tabs that had been used – I agree that right now, trying to figure out which curves are used on which node is a bit of a pain.
But I’m still not convinced of a need for a paradigm shift. In many cases the node thumbnail reveals a lot of information about key/window that’s on it. With some labels, and maybe even the popup overview you mentioned, revisiting a grade is easy enough.
I’m still not quite sure what about layers vs nodes makes it more intuitive. But you’ll have to forgive me – I’ve not worked with a layer based coloring software.

It’s my understanding that passing a node’s alpha channel to the next node inverts it, allowing you to add the “outside” grade so to speak. If you pass it on twice, it inverts back. So if you have 3 nodes, the first with your animated power window, the second will be inverse of that, and the third will have the same mask as your original power window.
Will that work?

Perhaps all we need is the ability to name nodes, just like we can name stills in the gallery. That would demystify what each node did when coming back to the project.

Since we’re reminissing a bit – has anyone watched the first season of TV show Castle? When it came out it was far and away the best color corrected show on (american) television. Unfortunately about halfway through the season they must have changed their colorist or something because it went back to looking merely good.

Is there any reason TO update to Lion on a work computer? Are there any performance gains now or suspected in the future, for Resolve, or other video tools?

Very cool – didn’t know about these. I’ll consider it, since my desk space is limited. On the other hand I feel like just saving up for an FSI monitor with built in scopes.

G13 is definitely a beast. I assigned some mouse clicks to the joystick, and can now scroll through all the curves tabs quickly.

Yep, I agree, and like I said above I’d like a more permanent place for my scopes to live (I don’t have external scopes either) – but you were asking why there would even be an option to turn them off 🙂

Yes, this is my experience also. It especially happens if the focus is on the scope window.

Kim, I think the option is there if you have external hardware scopes. Since having scopes slows down processing, no reason to have them on if you have an external scope setup.
