masking your footage to give it that “projected” look.Brett

I’ve never had much luck with AVI’s. It’s not exactly an industry standard
format for graphics, although 3D guys tend to show up with them more often
for some reason. Most editors are going to ask for Quicktime in the Animation
codec. Make sure that your Field Render is set to “Lower”. This is the proper
field order for most NTSC interlaced projects. Also, the Discreet folks we deal with usually want a Targa sequence rather
than a Quicktime file, but I believe the latest versions of Discreet (sorry – Autodesk)
software allow you to import Quicktimes.Brett

The only pref I can think might matter is “export clipboard” under the
“general” setting in PS. This works for me every time.I’m using PS CS1 and AE 6.5.

You probably have a really large image(s) that is chewing up most of your cache
needed for whatever else is happening in your comp. Aside from the obvious,
(installing more memory) any savings you can make by scaling down your images
(even 10-20%) can make a huge difference. If it’s something with many layers, try pre-rendering parts that might be
processor intensive (like blurs, etc.) and bringing those back into your comp.Good Luck.

You can just select the path in PS and paste it onto a layer in AE.
Just make sure you’ve selected the actual path – not the selection
from the path (travelling ants).Brett

There’s a preference for audio sample rate that I always forget to change upon new
installs of AE. Make sure it’s set to 48k if your audio came from an Avid or FCP,
otherwise the default is 44.1, which could be causing you the trouble.Brett

Make it as big as you think you’ll need to avoid any pixelization at close range. You’ll probably have to redo some scale parameters in your comp to get it to
match up to the .eps file, but that might solve your advanced 3d issues.Brett

I’ve had this happen on the PC, and I’m pretty sure it’s a memory leak also.
Try the “purge all” in the edit menu. That should clear out the cache without rebooting.Brett

Start with a thin white (or complimentary color) solid, maybe 100 x 8 pix and
apply a gaussian blur. Set the blur dimensions to horizontal, then crank it way out
to 200 or so. That should get you the shape. Throw on a glow & a bit more blur
(horiz & vert), and maybe some Trapcode Shine or Starglow.Combine that with transfer modes & animated masks.
Rinse and repeat.
