    hi all.
i bought a new comp (amd 3000, nvidia chipset 6200 on pci express)
offcorse im working with XP service pack 2.
FIRST. for some reasons i cant hear audio from the timeline or even to see the waveform in there. if i just double cliking the audio from the bin im able to hear it.
i must say that i checked the v in the composition tab for Preview and then Audio.

SECOND. after i rendered a ram preview and i want to take the timeline with the mouse (right and left u know) for previewing in my time i need to leave the mouse button to se the picture updating if im not leaving the button it just want.

    sorry for the long ride.
in my old comp i was able to do this and that but hardly animation 🙂
    thanks.

There’s a preference for audio sample rate that I always forget to change upon new
installs of AE. Make sure it’s set to 48k if your audio came from an Avid or FCP,
otherwise the default is 44.1, which could be causing you the trouble.

i tryed doing it but it still want play.
the Audio icon in the TIME CONTROLS is on but there is a small sign on it says maybe “the audio in this project or so will not work”
or somthing like this. he’s look like an unparking place.
    thanks a lot anyway.

About the audio, check your preferences under preview. Check that you don’t have te audio muted on your Time Controls. this is kinda rare but after effects sometimes doesn’t like mp3 files. try using .wav or other format instead.

And about your preview when you click the timeline.

there’s a button at the bottom of your composition called “Fast Previews”, click it and check the last setting called “During interactions only”.

as far as i know everything is tuned for audio.
im using a QT movie and when i open the file from the project window it does plays with sound.
when i druging it to the timeline it doesnt play sound, and i cant see the waveform at all.
again.. the audio button in the time control is checked but there is a small sighn showing “this wont play sound”
    thanks for the responds.
