    I’m doing a flythrough with chroma keyed footage and an illustrator graphic as the “floor” of the 3D space.
    My problem is that the illustrator graphic DISAPPEARS when the camera is CLOSE to it (within 20 or so pixels) and within a certain range of angles (90 deg perp through say 20 degrees).
    The problem can be eliminated by switching the comp from the the Advanced to the Standard 3D rendering plug-in, but using the standard 3d plugin causes other issues where 3D layers intersect.
    HELP!?!
    I don’t have time to try to rescale the entire project larger, and am not sure that will solve the issue.
    Any thoughts? Is this resolved in AE 6.5?

    problem repeats on various G4 and G5s running 10.3.9

    I can’t reproduce the bug in 6.5 on os X.

    But it’s there in 5.5, Both the standard and the advanced renderers hav it at some point, the advanced not so fast, but it’s still there if you move close enough.

    My guess is it has something to do with the image buffer, the closer you get, the larger AE has to pixelate it.
    It has to store that pixelized version of the entire image somewhere, even if you’re only viewing one “parsec” of it.

    Just my gut feeling though, I might be wrong.

    Try it with a very tiny Illustrator file, and see if you can move closer to that before it dissapears.

    Try rasterizing that Illustrator file in Photoshop with an alpha channel if appropriate.
    Make it as big as you think you’ll need to avoid any pixelization at close range.

    You’ll probably have to redo some scale parameters in your comp to get it to
    match up to the .eps file, but that might solve your advanced 3d issues.

    Are you using the “continuously rasterize” option for the vector layer?

    Maybe that could help
