I have a plug-in called 3D assistants that’s kind of old. Could that be making the problem?
Try deleting that plugin. Also Select all the Layers in present comp, Cut them and Paste into a New Comp. And check the Results.
Also you have not posted the Timeline in the Sceenshot.

I use cs6 and was hoping that a texture could be applied to 3d text (even though I want it flat) similar to the way you can do it in cinema 4d. But so far no luck there either.
You can use Element 3D.

As everyone said, You need to export with RGB + Alpha to have transparency.

IS there was an expression that the comp name = layer name = image in precomp?Post this question at Adobe After Effects Expressions Forum. You will get your answer quickly.

Even is the Documentation, It is what you have seen the tutorial. I have a tutorial of motion graphics from Lynda.com and the instructor used Alt + P though it was not the same in my case. As mentioned above by others, Shift key is missing in the combination. Don’t know how it works for them.

I concur with Cassius.
You may have to use a 3D application for this effect. Its a 3D rope that has been used in the movie. You need to go through all the steps from Modeling of rope in 3D app like Maya or Cinema 4D to final compositing of shot.

I have some 3 photos over which I added some text, subtracted it so I could see through it and then added a stroke/mask for each individual letter to create the vintage postcard effect where the inside of the text also has a white border.Can you upload the text image that you have created so that If possible I can give you an alternative method to create that without using Precomps.

I think the problem is with because of Critical Speed.

After Effects does not read embedded color profiles from Illustrator files. To ensure color fidelity, assign an input color profile to the Illustrator footage item that matches the color profile with which the Illustrator file was created.Cross check the color profiles of both after effects project and Illustrator document.
