I can RAM preview :30 stretches of this in FULL res 1080p in about one minute
It seems that the rendering is taking more time then expected is because of the codec you are using which is an expected behavior.

Yes you are right. You have to copy the key frames.
Make an ellipse using pen tool on a solid. Press MM to reveal mask path and then press Cntl + C. Then go to position parameter of flower and then press Cntl + paste.
