  • Trouble with Noise on black suit using key light

Posted by Cara Myers on March 11, 2013 at 3:09 am

Fairly new at keying in AE cs6 and pulling my hair out trying to get the noise to disappear off of this guy’s suit using Keylight! Screen Matte view makes it look crisp and clean but it’s not. I have tried to clip the black and white under Screen Matte as well. Any ideas? I would be forever GRATEFUL!

Try to precomp your Keyed layer and use it as alpha matte for itself . So you key actually only creates a matte for your original layer.

Do not use “Final Result” in the View, rather “Intermediate Result”. You may need to add a Spill Suppression.

As Ted has prescribed, you should stay away from using Keylight’s Final Result. Keylight’s Final Result option adds Spill Suppression which is of course a good thing. However it usually adds noise to the keyed footage.

Stick to Keylight’s Intermediate Result and then use another de-spilling technique.

Here are a couple of good de-spilling procedures –

one other tip to add. setting keylight’s ‘replace method’ (under screen matte) from soft colour to hard colour can often help the noise issue.

ok… I plan to. Just been to busy designing websites to learn Premiere. I do use Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Photoshop everyday. But Movie Maker did ok for 1 of my videos.. Please give me your opinion and tell me if you think it looks amateur.. I usually get great reviews but from friends and family. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bauq4jS3IY
