Most people consider cutting on the beat to be quarter notes, remember there’s lots of other kinds of notes; whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteen, etc so lots of “musical” places to cut. I also try to mix up my cut lengths to keep it interesting. Like; cut, cut, cut, let it play for awhile, cut, cut, etc. Its all about feel, even if something is technically in time it may not feel right in the context of the song.
My motto is let the song dictate the cuts.
Hope that’s helpful.Thanks,

[Dave LaRonde] ” Off the top of my head, it sounds like the difference between 24 and 23.976. But I presume the client has already checked for that mistake.”
That was my first thought. His clips and sequence all say 24. In my daw I have it set to 24 but I output a 23.976 version and it didn’t make a difference. Since the audio file I output is correct its something about the way FCP interprets it when its imported and added to the timeline.
Hmmm, one thing that just occurred to me is to see how FCP interprets the file if I put it on a new timeline. I’ll get the client to try that.
Thanks, for making me think a little more about this. Thanks,

January 3, 2014 at 4:00 am in reply to: Used to FCP 7, so how to do these things in latest PP CC?First thing is set the keyboard shortcuts to fcp 7. Amazingly when I’ve done something instinctivly it works just like FCP. Like “f” will matchframe. “t” selects all clips to right of cursor.
Thanks,

I just made the switch. With all the features added recently its a really similar experience to FCP.
I also recommend setting keyboard shortcuts to FCP.
There are some great tutuorials here and adobe TV has others. Watch the what’s new vids on Adobe TV as a lot of information in other places is based on cs6 or earlier and so much has been added to PP 7 and up.
Also check out the reference manual lots of uptodate info and links to more videos.
I have been checking out Premiere since cs3 and haven’t felt like it was an FCP replacement for me until the Oct update. Now I’m all in and loving it.Thanks,

December 27, 2013 at 7:56 pm in reply to: Change multi-cam angle via keyboard without adding editWhat I’ve found is if i use the number keys I get a cut. If I clip in the angle monitor window it will change the clip underneath the playhead.

Seems like at one point Black Magic was raving about resolve running on the new MacPro. If so that just means other companies are going to have to work on compatibility now that they have access to the machines. My feeling is that very soon a lot of other companies will be touting new mac pro compatibility.

December 20, 2013 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Premiere I’m coming home- but I have a few questionsThanks Dennis. Very helpful tips.
Relearning Premiere has been fairly painless. As Justin mentions above version 7.1 seemed the the beginning of critical mass for me. 80% of the time I just need a clean workspace that let’s me organize and assemble in a way that works for my given project. Sometimes I very ordered and sometimes very messy, but when I need more depth I want it easily available. Last night I read all the release notes for 7 and it was funny to see how many of my deal breakers have been added during this time.
My plan is to read the manual over the holidays. Any suggestions for a good book on PP?Thanks,

December 20, 2013 at 8:55 am in reply to: Premiere I’m coming home- but I have a few questionsThanks Justin, but this isn’t what I’m looking for. What I need is, if I have a clip on V1 and A1, when I move the V1 clip to V2 I want the audio to move to A2. They would move in opposite directions physically but end up on same numbered tracks, this is how I moved clips around on FCP7.
BTW thanks for the compliment on my avatar, should be labeled, that IS my happy face. Thanks,
