December 31, 2013 at 1:33 pmSetup your keyboard shortcuts to correspond to FCP7. This should make the transition easier. When importing media, you can right click (CC) on a clip and create an optimized sequence easily.

December 31, 2013 at 3:33 pmI have this book and like it….but how up to date is it now?
Not meant as a criticism…only that a lot of things have changed since the CS5 version that it was based on….
particularly in the timeline editing….
has it been updated?

Couldn’t tell ya. Don’t have the book myself, and was only making a suggestion to Anders based on reviews that I have read. Checking on whether or not it has been updated would definitely be a good idea.

December 31, 2013 at 6:04 pmI just made the switch. With all the features added recently its a really similar experience to FCP.
I also recommend setting keyboard shortcuts to FCP.
There are some great tutuorials here and adobe TV has others. Watch the what’s new vids on Adobe TV as a lot of information in other places is based on cs6 or earlier and so much has been added to PP 7 and up.
Also check out the reference manual lots of uptodate info and links to more videos.
I have been checking out Premiere since cs3 and haven’t felt like it was an FCP replacement for me until the Oct update. Now I’m all in and loving it.Thanks,
Vince Sanchez

January 1, 2014 at 7:10 pmHere’s a thread I started on linked in the Premiere forum. There were some interesting posts. It’s a good forum. https://www.linkedin.com/groupItem?view=&gid=157827&type=member&item=266445894&qid=fbad83ca-29a1-4053-81dc-e81c77a293af&goback=.gmr_157827
Hi, looking for some suggestions from this helpful and knowledgeable group. I worked with FCP 5.5 for some years, but recently upgraded to a faster MacBook Pro and Premiere CC.
I’ve learned some basic stuff and have edited DLSLR footage in timelines, but I keep getting hung up on simple interface, button, and keyboard shortcut controls. Many of the resources I’ve found are CS6 specific—and CC has a few little differences in buttons, keystrokes, and menus. Others are task-specific: they document or demonstrate procedures, but rarely address interface options and menus in any consistent way.
Here’s what I’m using:
Adobe’s reference pdf for CC—hard to search, task-focused. Different keyboard shortcuts for Windows and Mac.
An Editor’s Guide to Adobe Premiere Pro, 2nd Ed, by Harrington, Carman, and Greenberg, Peachpit Press– same issues plus it’s for CS6
Lynda.com—a really good course for CS6 by Maxim Jago with interface material but for CS6.
Larry Jordan’s courses—CS6-specific, task oriented, not much on the interface, can’t search
Adobe support site—task-oriented, not much on the interface, can’t search
Adobe tutorial videos—same issuesI want to know the interface very well—viewing, control options, menus—and just can’t find this stuff for Premiere CC.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

January 1, 2014 at 8:52 pmI have just finished the lynda.com training for Premier CC. Not bad – it will definitely give you quite a few navigation tips as well as workflow. I was a bit frustrated with the attached files, but you could always try it without them and save the money.

January 1, 2014 at 10:59 pmYou have to continue to check in on the Lynda titles as they get updated often to little fanfare. The Speedgrade CC title just got updated because of a couple of new features in SG but also because of the Mavericks upgrade.
