Sad to say but I think this is it for me and FCPX. I’ve clung to FCP 7 and its never let me down. For the last year, since I’ve had a fast Mac Pro I start every project by giving FCP X and Premiere a chance. Have always ended up back on 7.
This week I started a multicam project on Premiere and finished it and not could I do everything I needed easily, there were some extras to that made the project shine.
Still missing a lot of things but the workarounds aren’t too bad and hopefully they’ll be added in. Funny I needed clip markers in the timeline and the next day an update was there and it had… clip markers in the timeline.
Was waiting for 10.1 to give it a try but the only thing they added that interest me at all is join through edits, not enough.
If a really big update shows up someday I’ll give it a try but for now its back to Premiere (started with it in the last century).

Discovered that the AJA control panel swithed to 720 after the update. Reset to 1080 and all is well.

With this update I’m having problems with audio through my Kona LHi. The project I’m working on is a multicam project. Stopping and starting clears it up. This is a consistent problem right now.

[Bret Williams] “It’s nice to be able to conform in the timeline. Leave the master alone. Then you could ramp in and out of the conformed slowmo from real time.”

That what I’m trying to achieve. I will be trying some of these ideas out in the next day or two.

Great info everyone. I’ll be checking out the options mentioned. I’m well aware of AE and Twixtor use both. Just had a quick project I was working on and started wondering if I could just do it on the timeline with reasonable quality.

Habit and I like having a native size edit in case I need it in the future and mainly to keep my mind on the content edit, I’d start futzing with reframing when I need to focus on the content.

Lately we’ve been shooting projects that go out to DVD or web at 1080. We edit at 1080 then put the edit into a 720 timeline to reframe or zoom on shots. One project my daughter shot for a school DVD was shot as a wide shot and she planned to do CUs to cover edits, but they ran out of time before they could do that, so she edited for content and then we put the edit into a SD timeline and completely reframed most of the shots. Instant closeups,it was a cooking show and it looked like a 4 camera shoot by the time we were done and the quality was great.

  • [Steve Modica] “You have to hit cmd-K and connect to server using the correct IP address.”

That’s the way I’ve been trying to get connected. Second computer just doesn’t want to connect.

  • That’s what I thought. Here is what I have set up:
    G5
    Internal Ethernet ip: 192.168.1.115 subnetmask:0255.255.255.0

    Ethernet Card ip: 192.168.2.115 subnetmask:0255.255.255.0

Only one edit station can connect to the G5. What I’m seeing is that afp will only connect to the ethernet port that is at the top of the list of connectons in the Network panel.
    Stumped.
