Create an ellipse, than Effect > Distort > Zig Zag as Smooth. Enable Preview in the prompt so you can fine tune the settings.

I can’t think of anything automatic that would do this, unless these objects are symbols.

Manually, I’d create a guide path at the odd angle, duplicate a copy to preserve the angle, group one guide path to the odd angle object, rotate the grouped object snapping the guide path to a 90 deg. angle, than perform the flip. Than use the odd angle copy as a guide to restore the rotation.

Or maybe simply a flip and rotate operation might work. For this it would be helpful to know the exact rotation degrees.
You could Cmd/Opt click on the object while using the Rotate tool (R).

  • Not sure if I’m exactly understanding what you need, but I might…

    Outline all of your objects.
Duplicate the mesh and put it on top of the text, than use the top mesh as a mask on the text.
I’d guess you’d have to offset, or even duplicate this object for multiple offsets, than nudge the object appropriately.

Not exactly sure what’s happening here, but I’d try using the Convert Anchor Point Tool on that point – under the pen tools.
    Click-and-Drag the point.

Seems more like a Photoshop project.??
Maybe if you could add more details about your goals.
In PS, maybe try Filter / Sharpen / Unsharpen Mask.

    Maybe try..

Select your object than press ‘R’. The object-center crosshairs will appear in the center of the object.
Now, you can grab the crosshairs and position them anywhere.
Now when you grab and move the object it will rotate around the modified center position.

The Radial Pattern tutorial shows this.
If this isn’t anywhere close to answering your question, let us know.

Once people start talking about Corel, just know that you are in a battle of the ages… and they lost, BTW, IMHO. You are working with people that hate you because you’re an ‘Illustrator snob’. This is my experience with Corel people.
Just export EPS as version 10, TIFF 8-bit color, post script level 3. You should be good.

One way would be to drag your common component into the Symbols palette. Then drag your editable component (the text) into the Symbols palette.
Now you can group the two symbols and duplicate as many times as needed.
When you need to change the text, either double click it with the Group or Direct Selection Tool or double click the symbol in the palette and edit, and every instance of the symbol will update.

September 26, 2012 at 12:31 am in reply to: Creating a 3D net in Illustrator?

Generally, you would want to do this in a 3d app like Cinema 4D.
But if you want/need to do it in Illustrator I might use Object/Blend and Object/Clipping Mask/Make.
The attached file shows what I mean…
