August 28, 2006 at 2:47 am in reply to: A/V Synch problems after rendering with Premiere Pro 2/Fix Needed! Please specify how you are viewing the clips. This A/V sync issue may relect problems with the player and not the clip itself.
A common A/V sync issue arises if you are viewing the clips through the Canopus box and your sound is coming from your computer speakers (The ADVC gradually gets behind as it has to convert to composite in real time.)
These problem usually go away if you pause and start playing again though.

August 24, 2006 at 10:44 pm in reply to: Is it Best to Use 1 Hard Drive or 2 Hard Drives with PP and AE?All I can tell you is that back when I added that third drive and imaged copy my OS to the newest/fastest drive, I shaved an average of 20% of most of my renders, and lost some of the freezes I was getting while editing a timeline that was fully rendered. And if you happen to work with 1080i footage, you will agree that any little system improvement will make a huge difference. BTW, This was without a fresh install, and no other added components.

August 24, 2006 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Is it Best to Use 1 Hard Drive or 2 Hard Drives with PP and AE?Regarding what should go where. I’ ll be honest here, I can’t confirm this, but I can safely assume that the OS should use the fastest drive. Of course anything to do with video will want to have the largest drive so that the system doesn’t have to start splitting things up too much once you start running low in space.
My two bit 😉

August 24, 2006 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Is it Best to Use 1 Hard Drive or 2 Hard Drives with PP and AE?The point here is to separate anything Premiere will want to pull at the same time, keeping a single drive having to go back and forth looking for stuff.
How much speed you will gain from a third drive is of course depending on the overhaul system, and whether it can keep up with the data coming through.

August 24, 2006 at 6:44 pm in reply to: Music-Video “Through Glass”….how to do this in AE?One way to do it: Key the 2 actors first in front of blue screen, make real card board figures out of the last frame in your scene.
Key actors into the actual scene, matching the last frame to the position of the cardboard figures, and mask out the cardboards until they are to appear. I’m not saying the last part would be easy.

It is actually best to have 3. One for the OS, one for your captured media, and one for your rendering/cache; but definitely a minimum of 2.

It has to be formatted NTFS to accept any file over 2 Gigs.
The reason I bring this up is that most external drive still ship in the FAT format, and have to be reformatted to NTFS in order to be used for video editing.

If you are looking for the easy way, and have a few bucks to spare, there’s a plugin called Aurora Sky.

And then a couple of month back I saw your pic my friend. A bet of a shocker and maybe say disappointment. I guess it’ll have to be our little secret.

Well you could buy the Artbeat clip.. ouch $150 bucks 😉
Actually, assuming that you have a more recent version of AE, the Waveworld effect (Under simulation) can do just that. Not one of the easiest effect to use but I would get started here, it’s well worth the effort. https://creativecow.net/articles/tierney_jim/caustics/index.html
Although that demo is meant to be cartoonish as far as water goes, you should be able to get something like the Artbeat movie with a little tweeking.
Cheers,
