Trying to export an 11-minute video to DVD, from PP 2.0. It’s an Aspect Cineform project. When I click the export button, I get a message that there’s not enough room on my drive for temporary burning files. It’s an external Firewire 800 drive, 500gig, with more than 200 gig available.

Can’t seem to get a different result even when I assign a different scratch disk.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Dean

It has to be formatted NTFS to accept any file over 2 Gigs.

The reason I bring this up is that most external drive still ship in the FAT format, and have to be reformatted to NTFS in order to be used for video editing.

How much space do you have on your C: drive?

Thanks for the responses….the external drive is formatted NTFS. The C: drive has 20 gig available. I set that as my “DVD encoding” drive in preferences. Same result.

My alternative has been to export an MPEG2 DVD movie and then put into Encore. The irony is that these files are only about 500MB when encoded. I’d really rather just export to DVD, which seems like something that should work here.

    Still welcoming your suggestions. Thanks,

Mmm, that is rather strange then…. A couple more things. What happens if you export to ISO ?

If that works, then there maybe something corrupt in there.

You could try resetting your preferences, and if you have time on your hands, try a clean install of PP.

If the ISO solution works, you could also use this little program (https://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm). That would allow you to drag that file right to the drive for burning without having to go through Encore.

I know, not throwing you a whole meal, but rather a bone to chew on 😉

ISO export was a no go. I called Adobe about this and they tell me that Premiere Pro is not capable of a direct export to DVD on an HD project. This is 1280 x 720 JVC HD 100 footage. Frankly, I’m skeptical of that response – I swear I’ve done this before with no problem. And since it can export to MPEG2DVD, it seems like it shouldn’t be much different. Oh well.

    Thanks for the responses.

    Dean,

Well, you can’t export 720i/p directly to DVD; it would have to be 480i/p by DVD standard. The only other way would be to put it on a “data DVD”, not playable on a set top player.

But if your settings in the DVD export are 720×480, then you should be fine, as Premiere will do that downscaling for you.

Can you post a screen cap of your settings on the DVD export menu ?
