Hi Luke,

As Todd said, Project manager is the best way to transfer projects.

The problem is that the files were likely transfered to a drive with a different letter. If your laptop had a single drive (c), you would have to put the project on the C drive in the other machine, and in the same folder relative to the root of the drive.

If you open the inspector in Quicktime, it will tell you what the codec is.

If he has Final Cut installed on the same system, it could be Prores. There is a decoder you can download for Windows.

If you are not working with a dynamic link, you can always go into Encore and use Replace Asset. If you are working with dynamic link, saving the Premiere project over the previous one should update the markers (I think).

This is usually set when you first create your sequence and can’t be changed afterwards. You can create a new sequence with the right settings, then copy and paste from the old one. Make sure you create the same number / type of video and audios tracks first.

What format/size is your final export?

Hi Tracy,

I’m not sure about your workflow, but no, Premiere will not constantly rasterize vectors. If these are simple static logos, resizing in Illustrator is the only solution. But if you are doing a bit more, you may find a lot more flexibility doing a dynamic link with After Effects and checking the “raterize icon” on the layers.

Hi Adnan,

The problem resides in the way Quicktime handles gamma on the Windows side (hence a slight shift). There are a couple of fixes floating around. Fix 1 (may cause jumpy video) . Fix 2.

Basically, we just avoid Quicktime on the Windows side and use our Mac for accurate review if the client is going to use applications like Playback pro.

On subject of empty panes, this is what I found:

It’s a known quirk of workspaces.
When you modify a workspace, Premiere remembers your changes. That’s why the Reset Workspace command is there.
When you have x number of sequences open, the workspace remembers that those panels were open. Since when you open a new project the previous workspace is used, you’ll see x number of empty timeline panels open.

[Lori Savitch] “1. When I create a new project, the sequence I created shows up in the timeline, along with SEVEN other sequences, all named “Timeline (no sequence)” Of course, I can delete them, but that’s kind of a pain.”

I’ve seen it happen, not sure why it did, but try the latest update.

[Lori Savitch] “2. Page up and Page Down does not take me to the beginning and end of an edit point. I went to Edit > Keyboard Customization, and it is clearly mapped to do so. I remapped the keyboard, and the new keyboard shortcuts work fine, but … whaaaa????”

This shortcut will only affect selected tracks.
