Wrong Colors Premier Pro
Hello!
So, I just got started in animation. I did a short clip in Adobe Flash and edited it a little in Premier Pro, but after exporting the video the original colors from Flash changed into slightly different ones.

I exported from Flash in PNG sequence, then imported sequence into Premier Pro and exported it again in .mpg with settings in picture above, and then imported that clip into Premier Pro again and edited it.
Can someone please explain what is this problem with colors.
PS: After I upload the clip to YouTube, the colors seem to go back to normal.

Hi Adnan,
The problem resides in the way Quicktime handles gamma on the Windows side (hence a slight shift). There are a couple of fixes floating around. Fix 1 (may cause jumpy video) . Fix 2.
Basically, we just avoid Quicktime on the Windows side and use our Mac for accurate review if the client is going to use applications like Playback pro.

Vince is right in there. I was about to post the same thing. Its a known issue with gamma reproduction in Quicktime. Apple have never bothered to fix it on the PC side so VLC and even WMP is your safest bet on Windows side of life. VLC is at least across both systems so I tend to go with that if what I am doing is to go across to the Mac.

The most likely issue in my opinion is that you were in RGB in Flash, and Premiere Pro moves that material to what they call “YUV”, (which is erroneous…it’s actually Y’CbCr), or video colorspace…but in any case, the color palettes are not an absolute match and often this sort of conversion can create issues in workflows that require it…made even stranger with repeated passes back and forth.
Who knows why it would be fixed on YouTube…maybe it’s just that the browser is on a monitor that has some misadjustment that “corrects” the error?
…it’s pretty tough to use internet-sourced video as any sort of color assessment.

This color thing is really frustrating me, I still haven’t found correct formula for the problem.
I think I’m just gonna leave it at that for now, and concentrate more on my animations.
Few more observations of the color problem, on my MacBook Pro the colors on YouTube are the wrong ones, but on my dads PC are correct and also in school are good. And if I export the video to .mov, VLC and QuickTIme Player show correct colors but after uploading to Youtube they are changed to completely different color (more bluish).
If anyone has a real solution for this Flash Premier Pro VLC QuickTIme YouTube color problem please let me know 🙂

I have a dng image sequence (coming out of ML). Importing on a PC to Premiere Pro cc 2014 leads to wrong colors (similar to a wrong white balane). Checked 1 file in Photoshop, everything with colors was OK! Importing the sequence to AE CC 2014 all colors are OK! So for me this is a workaround before to go back in Premiere, after rendering it in AE, but the origial problem is left to premiere. 🙁
