    Work Area Render Settings

    Hi There,

    Does anyone have any idea if you can change the settings which Premiere renders the work area too? The problem I’m having is that when I go to sequence > Render Entire Work Area it renders fine but changes the aspect ratio of my footage.

    I suspect it has something to do with the size of my footage. It is square pixel 4096×1746.

    Hi James,

    This is usually set when you first create your sequence and can’t be changed afterwards. You can create a new sequence with the right settings, then copy and paste from the old one. Make sure you create the same number / type of video and audios tracks first.

    What format/size is your final export?

    Premiere Pro defaults to MPEG I-frame for a preview render codec…you set this up when you set up a sequence.

    MPEG needs to have dimensions that are divisible by 8 in order for the block/macroblock encoding structure to work properly. that may have something to do with it…1746 is not divisible by 8.

    You can change the codec, though I’d say that v210 or uncompressed will be a pretty oppressive file size at that frame dimension.

    Thanks Tim,

    I’ve changed the project to be 4096×1714, an actual digital cinema resolution I believe. The video previews at 1918×803 and works perfectly.
