Very easy…
Copy the “mask shape” and paste into the “flare center”. Now the lens flare should be keyframed and follow the path of your mask. Unfortunately masks only work in 2D.

You can only save a Preset with a single filter or effect, but not a transition. I would send a request to Adobe…

Can’t really think of the issue here, but if you are in a hurry, I would give Scenalyzer a shot. It has resolved most of the issues I’ve had with capture in other software.
The trial version does watermark the video, but since you only need the audio that shouldn’t be a problem for now…

I don’t work in Premiere Elements, but you should be able to just import another project into your current project.
File>import and select the project file.
I understand that you are trying to paste a single clip, but I didn’t think that copy and paste worked in Premiere in the first place.

How about an external hardrive ? I don’t think dual layered DVDs are going to cut it for space requirements.

Most of these problems are usually attributed to the fact that you are actually running other applications at the same time, and unfortunately, it often has to do with other Adobe applications, or even an antivirus. The only way around this is good planning 😉
Aanarav should be credited for bringing a cool little software to our attention called EndItAll, it will kill all the processes running in the background BEFORE you start Premiere. I can almost guarantee you that most of these issues will go away. If they don’t, you need a clean OS or Premiere install.
For the firewire device issue, make sure that only one device is plugged in, and that should be the one Premiere is using. After Effects is also the one you have to look out for since it also uses firewire out for preview.
BTW, HP is well known for bundling a bunch of crap that usually runs at start up. I would also uninstall anything that says HP in front of it, unless you know you absolutely need it.

Do you mean that it gradually changes, as in auto white balance, or is it a sudden shift ?
If it’s gradual, 3 way color correction is going to be your best friend. If you have a white reference point in your footage it will make things a lot easier.
I would also look at the trial version of color finesse for future edits. For a sudden shift, hoping you have a B roll…

Pay very close attention to how layers are named in the templates that come with Premiere.
