My guess is that the clip giving you trouble was captured as a stereo clip and the camera mic audio was recorded to the left channel. If you just want to get it to work now create a new audio track as Mono and drag all the audio tracks that only go out the left channel to that new track. That should make the audio clip appear as mono just make sure they don’t go out of sync.

“Appear mono” because the clip actually isn’t. What needed to be done prior to editing was to recognize what each clips audio channels were captured as. This info can be found in the bin under Audio Info. You can modify how a audio is perceived in Premiere by right clicking the clip in the bin and selecting Modify > Audio Channels. This allows you to change a stereo track into separate mono tracks and so on…

    hope that helps,

February 5, 2013 at 8:57 pm in reply to: How to get rid of Track:Volume on Timeline?

Its telling you that the track is in Track adjustment mode instead of Clip adjustment mode. This can be very useful, but if you don’t want to be in Track Adjustment mode you can change it by:
Expand the audio tack and you will see a group of 4 icons on the left side of the timeline. One of them is the Show Keyframes icon. Click on the Show Keyframes icon and you should see the selector on Show Track Keyframes. Change it to something else.

    Hope that helps,

February 2, 2013 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Time Code is incorrect

Does the frame rate of the Timecode filter match the sequence? I think you might have a 24 frame sequence with the Timecode Filter set to a higher number. This will give you a shorter total time according to the filter because there are more frames per second.
    Hope that helps

Here is a Tutorial by Andrew Devis on Capturing DV. He explains using CS 5.5. He has a ton of great tutorials.

I have not captured from a DV deck (firewire) to Premiere so this workflow is based on the same idea of capturing using a card. There is a setting in Preferences where you can select Device Control. I believe your setting should be DV/HDV. I have it set to AJA Serial Control because that is what I use for machine control.

The Options… tab allows you to select your player (Sony, Panasonic, JVC, etc…) under the Device Brand tab.
    hope that helps,

What card do you have? Is it running the correct driver for Premiere CS6?
A quick search in CS6 Help makes it seem like Premiere supports RS-232.

“If the third-party digital device is a digitizer with device controls (and has device drivers for Premiere Pro), connect its device control port (RS-232 or RS-422) with the same type port on the analog device.”

If you go to File > Export do you have the ability to select Tape?
This was one problem we had at the beginning. We resolved it by updating our Kona 3 driver and selecting AJA Serial Control in Preferences > Device Control. That solved our issue.

  • Match Frame, “F” should open the clip in the Source Monitor with the playhead at the same point every time. It will also have the In & Out points selected. If you move the playhead in the sequence it should also move in the Source Monitor. I don’t think the effects on the clip in the Timeline travel to to the Source Monitor.

January 17, 2013 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Global text changes using templates.

I use templates for lower thirds using the title tool.
Type your text in Title Tool
With the Title Tool open hit “Command j” to open the Templates window
At the upper right of the Templates window click the icon and select “Import Current Title as Template”
rename your title and it should appear in the Templates window under User Templates.

    hope that helps
