Deck control Adobe Premiere 6 RS-232 (Former FCP user)
I am in the process of moving from FCP 7 to Adobe Premier 6. OSX 10.8
I have most of it figured out but I cant seem to get my Deck Control working like I had it in FCP.I have a UVW-1400A. Since it is RS-232 and not RS-422 I had a USA-28X Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter that converted the RS-232 to USB. It basically made an emulated port in FCP.
Adobe Premiere Pro 6 I cant seem to find any such settings and I and 99% sure they are not there.
However, I keep seeing post about Abobe Premiere Plugins that allow deck control with RS-232 and RS-422. All the links seem to be inactive and just keep running into dead-ends.
Love to have some advice. Even if it is to give up. 🙂

What card do you have? Is it running the correct driver for Premiere CS6?
A quick search in CS6 Help makes it seem like Premiere supports RS-232.“If the third-party digital device is a digitizer with device controls (and has device drivers for Premiere Pro), connect its device control port (RS-232 or RS-422) with the same type port on the analog device.”
If you go to File > Export do you have the ability to select Tape?
This was one problem we had at the beginning. We resolved it by updating our Kona 3 driver and selecting AJA Serial Control in Preferences > Device Control. That solved our issue.Victor

I have a Sony DSR DV deck that acts as my card. Via FireWire.

I have not captured from a DV deck (firewire) to Premiere so this workflow is based on the same idea of capturing using a card. There is a setting in Preferences where you can select Device Control. I believe your setting should be DV/HDV. I have it set to AJA Serial Control because that is what I use for machine control.
The Options… tab allows you to select your player (Sony, Panasonic, JVC, etc…) under the Device Brand tab.

Honestly for VTR capture I would just stick with FCP 7. That’s what we do here. We’ve converted all 6 of our suites over to CS6 for editing and mastering, but for tape capture, Premiere Pro just isn’t working.
So we simply capture via FCP 7 and then edit in Premiere Pro. In your case with that converter (which I haven’t seen since my Media 100 days) I would just stick with FCP for captures.

Mostly proVTR. Think they must be out of business.
