July 28, 2014 at 7:42 am in reply to: Animating complex modelling shapes without PLAHey guys,
thanks for the replies, all of those were really awesome options. My goal was keeping the geometry of something complicated based in a any primitive and keep using the primitive to animate. Usually you need to convert to polygons to create geometry from a primitive, so then you have no option to animate using the primitive functions.
So this is what i did, I did a primitive when the shape more or less I want, I duplicate and convert into polygon and then I create all the complicate geometry I want. With the original primitive I animate it using any of the option, for example, slice in a cylinder. Then I use a Boole object to animate in or animate out the primitive transition over the geometry. Later of course you could use deformer and so on.
I hope it helps, if anyone wants the file, please let me know.
All the best!

May 7, 2014 at 5:53 am in reply to: rendering only depth pass or any other passThanks Brian,
it is actually a shame , because put down a little the process of the multipasses. Specially if you want to modify your reflections and do only the reflections part without calculating the rest. I guess something Maxon has to improve.
Many thanks

wow Cassisus this is pretty impressive, i never heard about this plugin, i will get for sure into my workflow.
thanks so much for this!!

I see ;( what a shame. hopefully maxon improves this in future versions

Thanks Adam,
pretty interesting trick you showed me there. As you said the simulation gets quite lost so, in the end I did manually the animation by hand ( quite painful) but it works too.
thanks so much

thanks guys for the reply.
Brian that is brilliant you realized that, which it solved a lot of my headache figuring it out.
I imagine there has to be some way with point cache tag too but i havent figured out yet.
Another solution I did was putting really high FPS in C4D and later retiming in AE with timewarp. Not so efficient, but it works.
Thanks guys

Thanks for your reply Brian,
I tried that, and it works as you said, but for some reasons sometimes using Time track it could get a little tricky.
If i remove the cloth tag, after baking, the animation goes wrong. I dont understand why that happens, if it has been baked already. Any idea?
Many thanks

Did you try cloth nurbs?? I found it a really easy way to add thickness to things..

Hi Adam,
I have been playing around trying all possibilities, and everytime I bake the objects and remove the tags, the objects behave really badly.
In the first place, I tried to follow your steps. In the first place if I press Bake All in the dynamics tag, the square bounce really heavy. Later applying the bake function, kind of works, but not doing exactly the same ( do you bake the soft body dynamics to PLA too?) . I baked the cloth tags to PLA and after I delete them, they explosion goes crazy splashing polygons all over the place.
Did you already try this with the project?
Many thanks for all this
