As Dave said: Only go the slow-down route if the footage is progressive. In that case you won’t need the Nattress conversion at all, just add 3:2 pulldown. Any professional audio software will be able to slow down the sound without pitch shift these days.

I’d rather use MPEG Streamclip for downcoverting, it does a great job and is much faster.

Give the freeware MPEG Streamclip a try, it does a very decent downscale, is fast and easy to use.

If you are used to a PD150, I can feel your pain! Try the noise reducer in the package “Repair Collection”, I consider it the best for FCP: http://www.chv-plugins.com

The statistical noise reducer in After Effects (ex Grain Surgery) is even better, but very sloooooow.

It’s not making it much faster. Is the difference in price that big now? Wasn’t when i bought mine.

You’ll need to decide if you’ll need to work with large stills (panning or zooming) for HD video. Motion will be limited in that aspect with 128 MB. If this is not important for you, go for less.

Motion can handle larger stills with more VRAM.

We tried the Elgato and didn’t find it too impressive (as good as their other products are). When there’s lots of motion it tends to get blocky, Compressor is better.

Why not get yourself the Intensity Pro from Blackmagic? It has both analog and HDMI. But check with them if it can provide SD to the S-video and HD to HDMI at the same time

That’s strange. We are also doing DVCProHD with two drives without a hiccup, 100 mbps ist not that much.

With four drives we can do HD uncompressed in 720p, something seems to be wrong with your setup.
