    While I think that 24 or 32 should be fine, I don’t believe 64 would be a problem. While some sources claim that amounts divisible by three should perform better, I found the difference negligible.

    Symmetrical sticks in the parallel slots are important, though, or you give up a lot of speed.

    How much RAM do you have? Can you play DPX sequences without dropping frames in other programs?

    Same here. The GTX 285 is marginally slower than the ATI 4870 with Color. You can only have 8 bit or float with Nvidia.
    But be careful: A project started on ATI will look slightly different on Nvidia!
