If Premiere is offering hardware accelerated Mercury Engine at all, it is using the right card, since the GT 120 is not certified.

Try XMLs first, it might be OK for you:
– export XMLs from FCP
– load them into PPro
– save the PPro project (I like this better than DL)

Nothing wrong there. You can use much higher ISO before getting noise. You are sure that you are exposing at 1/48th shutter speed?

Depends very much on preparation. If you line up the clips in the right sequence it’s much faster than if it needs to sort them out (which it does pretty well, if necessary).
Just give it a try, there’s a fully functional time-limited tryout.

Yes, there is: PluralEyes by Singular Software. You just need a decent sound from the D7 as well and it will match your external recording. Works very well for us with FCP, but the Premiere version is still in beta.

The 24-105 with IS is pretty nice glass, albeit slow. But I wouldn’t go any further in zoom range.
